Study 1

When changes in the built environment prove ineffective in shaping active travel behavior: a systematic review of literature

Research questions:

1. What types of built environment interventions aimed at increasing transport-related physical activities have been documented in planning and public health literature since 2010?

2. How are physical activities measured in these interventions, and which travel modes are involved?

3. What are the effects of various types of built environment changes among different population groups in diverse regional settings?

4. Among the findings on the effects of the built environment on behavior change, which outcomes are unexpected or ineffective, and what are the reasons behind these unexpected or ineffective outcomes?
